Uwatec aladin datatrak and memomouse 26 Jul 2004 23:00:58 Mark Cartwright Uwatec aladin datatrak and memomouse Dear all, I have read various posts from the past about the software and cables provided by uwatec. I have the cables for the old DOS system - but the software and backup software has either been lost or corrupted with moving house. I've also just bought a new pc - shock horror, no serial port!! Can i use a 9pol-USB cable, and simply plug in the old uwatec cables or do i have to buy a pc card?? Does anyone have a copy of the old dos version of datatrak or know of a place I could download it? Cheers for now, happy and safe diving to you all. To a hard copy using a personal computer and the optional DataTrak software. By combining its advanced software and hardware design, the Aladin Air-X. With the DataTrak for Windows® software package you'll receive a compact, portable storage device called a Memo Mouse. This device allows you to store up to. I can email you the DOS datatrak & datatalk programs which will work fine in DOS. (Not pretend DOS on my XP machine by the way!) Boot into DOS with W95 or 98. You need a 'windows' Memo-mouse (not a DOS one) to run properly in windows. There are two real easy ways to do what you want. Buy a cheap 386/486 laptop at a car-boot (have an old 486 notebook specially for this) 2. Buy a Psion 5MX and use this to do same (no datatalk though) saves lugging a pc around with you. Does you emails too so you can email the dive back home as a back-up! There is one slightly more difficult way. The DOS-Software from Uwatec will not run on a fast computer and terminates with a runtime error 200 at XXXX:XXXX. Hack the windows program to do this. I've been using a Belkin USB Serial Adaptor FSU103 that I got from PC World (I know - I needed it quickly!). AFAIK that seems to be a 'real' serial port as it works just fine with my Garmin GPS, Nokia Mobile Phone and my Aladin Windows Memomouse and the current DataTrack. But unless you can get the old DOS Datatrack to run under XP that isn't going to help you much as you wont have USB support running under old DOS! Free for 60 days then you have to pay £17 for it. Works in XP with a serial-USB interface from expansys - and a home made cable. Not sure if it will work with a memomouse > Does anyone have a copy of the old dos version of datatrak or know of a > place I could download it? I've just found a copy of the old V2 software, email me on keithl at ukrecscuba dot org dot uk. If more than a couple of people email me then I'll put it up on the UKRS site or some such place.
